Börsipäev 30. september

Üks huvitav aktsia tänaseks on VVUS. 9 septembril lendas $7 pealt 5 punkti üles, kui teatas, et "EQUIP and CONQUER studies met all primary endpoints". Viimase paari nädalaga on veidi tagasi andnud ja kaupleb $10 juures. Täna on Merriman kommentaariga väljas, kus soovitab aktsia nõrkust kasutada positsiooni täiendamiseks.

USA SKP langes teises kvartalis 0.7% vs varem raporteeritud 1%.

More firm and sure the hand of courage strikes, when it obeys the watchful eye of caution.
-- James Thomson

On Tuesday the market failed to follow through on the big move we had on Monday. That is what you would normally expect when volume is low, but low-volume bounces have tended to just keep on going in this market. If you applied the normal rules of technical analysis, you would have missed on many of the strongest moves in this rally.

It was just one day of a little softness, and it is premature to make too big of a deal of it. The market held on to most of Monday's gains and is still in good shape to consolidate a bit more and then make a run at yet another high.

Plenty of bears are anxious to call a top in this market. They have been anxious for months now and have presented plenty of good reasons why will have to eventually pull back. They will be correct one of these days, but the market continues to do little to indicate its inevitable doom. We have a few minor warning signs, but there still isn't anything to indicate that the overall trend is changing or that a major change in character is taking place.

We have to continue to respect the strong uptrend but keep our eyes open for signs that things may be shifting. The lack of follow-through was one of those signs that warrant some attention, but it is a fairly minor matter until we see some other action to confirm it. The fact that it is the end of the quarter may be helping to hold up the market more than would otherwise be the case, but that still isn't any reason to be overtly negative about things.

The challenge of this market is not maintaining a positive mindset -- it's continuing to find ways to put money to work. There is no shortage of extended charts out there, and much of the speculative action is in low-priced and secondary names. It isn't a market with great leadership; rather, market players are constantly trying to find the hot pockets of action.

We have some positive action this morning on good earnings from the likes of Nike (NKE) and Sealy (ZZ) , but Saks (SKS) and Darden (DRI) are offsetting things a bit to the downside.

The market mood is fairly complacent, but we have ADP employment numbers coming up and the end-of-the-quarter pressures will be drying up. The bulls are still firmly in control -- above all else, we need to respect that.

September Chicago PMI 46.1 vs 52.0 consensus, August 50.0
Pool AMSC kaetud @ $32.71.

Samas, positsioonide võtmisel tuleb kindlasti arvestada turu meeleolu.
