Majandustulemuste hooajal aega tavapärasest veelgi vähem, seepärast jääb igapäevaseks Päevapiltide tegemiseks vahepeal aega puudu. Siiski, püüan igapäevaselt vähemalt anda vähemalt oma vaate turust tervikuna.

Good, but Good Enough? Bulls Have a Lot to Prove
4/20/05 8:36 AM ET
"A faith that hasn't been tested can't be trusted."
-- Adrian Rogers
Yesterday the bulls managed one of their best days in many weeks. Breadth was solid and the point gain good. However, the move came on lighter volume than previous days', and that is a concern. The market needs support from the big funds and institutional buyers if it is going to put in a meaningful recovery.
The bulls have some good earnings news from Intel (INTC:Nasdaq) and Yahoo! (YHOO:Nasdaq) to work with this morning. If they truly have faith and confidence that the market is set for a major turn, now is the time to prove it.
The bears are going to attempt to fade this early strength and will likely become increasingly aggressive as the market moves toward overhead resistance levels. Keep in mind that the bounce yesterday didn't even take the market back to where it was on Thursday of last week.
For a truly healthy market the faith of the bulls has to be tested, and they need to show that they really do believe in this market. The bounce yesterday did nothing to show us that a lasting recovery is under way. It helped relieve the selling pressure and brought in some bottom fishers who are trying to nail the turn, but it was not the sort of big-volume reversal that portends a major turning point.
Intel (INTC:Nasdaq) has done a very poor job in recent quarters of holding on to gains produced by positive earnings reports. Traders have done well fading the report and I expect they will try to do so again, especially because the stock is right at some key overhead resistance at $23.50.
The bears are likely to let the bulls have a little running room this morning on the good earnings reports but I don't think they are going to go into hibernation. They will be watching for opportunities to sell as key technical overhead levels come into play.
The CPI number is going to be very important in determining the market mood. Inflation and the Fed remain the key to this market right now, and until there is better insight into the course the Fed will take, the inflationary data will be crucial for this market.
We have an upbeat open on the way. Overseas markets did well but crude oil is up fairly strongly again.
