April 16 (Bloomberg) -- Nordea Bank AB wants to buy Latvia’s Parex Banka AS together with Morgan Stanley and investor Peter Hambro to increase its branch network in the Baltic countries, Sweden’s Dagens Nyheter newspaper reported today, without saying where it got the information.
While Nordea wants to acquire the retail operations of the Latvian lender, Morgan Stanley is interested in managing the troubled assets of Parex and Hambro wants to take over its asset management operations, the daily said.
Nordea has “looked at” Parex because it has an obligation to evaluate all the business proposals it gets in its main markets, spokesman Rodney Alfven told Dagens Nyheter. When it comes to acquisitions in the Baltics, Nordea wants to ensure it can handle the credit risk, that the acquisition fits its business model and that a purchase doesn’t affect Nordea’s credibility, Alfven told the Swedish newspaper.

Läti valitsus on otsustanud, et Parex pank loobub krediidiasutuse litsentsist. See tähendab ilmselt siis ühtlasi seda, et Parex ei kaasa enam edaspidi hoiuseid. Algselt arvasin, et jutt käib reaalselt Citadelest, kuid siiski tegutseb Parex mingil moel ka oma nime all edasi?

2011 Q2 aruande põhjal oli Parexis klientidelt 495 mLVL väärtuses hoiuseid. Samas on 462,4 mLVL sellest Läti riigi oma.

Citadele vist jah ikkagi üleni teine outfit nüüdseks. 2011 Q2 väidavad end hoiustemahult Läti kolmandaks (9,7% turuosa) tummise 1,18 mrd LVL mahuga.
