Amylin Pharma, Eli Lilly (LLY) and Alkermes (ALKS) provide top-line results from DURATION-6, head-to-head study; patients receiving BYDUREON experienced a reduction in A1C of 1.3 percentage points from baseline, compared to a reduction of 1.5 percentage points for Victoza. (15.01 ) AMLN, LLY and ALKS, the 3 cos that are working together to develop BYDUREON announce top-line results from DURATION-6, a head-to-head study designed to compare weekly BYDUREON to daily Victoza. Results showed that patients receiving BYDUREON experienced a reduction in A1C of 1.3 percentage points from baseline, compared to a reduction of 1.5 percentage points for Victoza. BYDUREON did not meet the pre-specified primary endpoint of non-inferiority to Victoza. Gastrointestinal adverse events occurred more frequently among Victoza patients (nausea reported among 20% of patients, vomiting 11%, diarrhea 13%) compared with BYDUREON patients (nausea 9%, vomiting 4%, diarrhea 6%). Injection site nodule occurred more frequently among BYDUREON users (10%) compared with Victoza users (1%). There were no major hypoglycemia events in either treatment group.
